The Men of 2/26 Battalion profiles the battalion soldiers’ lives before, during, and after the war. When Singapore fell on 15 February 1942, these men from all walks of life became POWs for three and a half years. An unbreakable bond was forged during this extraordinary time as they suffered at the hands of their Japanese captors.
When the authors discovered that their fathers had been in the same platoon, they wondered about their stories. Growing up as the daughters of ex-prisoners of war, Lyn Wright and Lyn Anderson knew very little of their experiences. Like many others, their fathers did not talk of their experiences to anyone. As an important part of our history, the authors sought to capture it, and this book is the result of their endeavours to keep their memory alive.
